Morning Devotion from the Desk of Emma Deekor

Bible Reading: Gen. 2:15-17.

Text: Genesis 18:19 KJV

"For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him."

God is the creator of every family and has from the beginning placed the man as the head. Why do you think God created the man first? This was done to give him the position of leadership. It is unfortunate some men have abandoned this leadership position.

This was exactly what Adam did and allowed Eve to be at the driver's seat. The result was disaster: disobedience to God's instructions. Do not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Simple command.

The purpose of today's devotional is that every man should know that he is the head of his household (Num. 1:4).

He is also the head of the wife and should act as such (Eph.5:23).

There are responsibilities attached to these two positions. In  1 Corinthians 11:3 KJV the bible says:

"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God."

As the head of the family, you must provide leadership (Gen. 18:19), security and their upkeep.

You must also love your wife as Christ loved the church and sacrificed Himself for it. This love would be extended to the children.
