Early Morning With God (EMWG).
Morning Devotion from the Desk of Emma Deekor
Bible Reading: Luke 10:29-37.
Text: Luke 10:29 KJV
"But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?"
If I asked you now, who is your neighbour? What would your response be? Literally, your neighbour means the fellow closest to you, closest to where you live, do business or work.
The bible teaches us to:
- love our neighbours and enemies alike (Matthew 5:44);
- love our friends (John 15:13, Prov. 17:17);
- our brothers and sisters both physically and spiritually ( Hebrews 13:1, 1 John 2:10, 3:10); and
- our families and loved ones (Matthew 10:37).
But what did Jesus say in all of these? In Matthew 5:44-46 KJV, He said:
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
[45] That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
[46] For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?"
Jesus definition of neighbour is everyone you come in contact with on a daily basis no matter their beliefs, tribes or nationality or even their actions. You know some people's actions make them unlovable. I enjoin you to follow Jesus advice today so that the world would be a better place to live.
Happy Sunday and Remain blessed.
