The Head Part II

Bible Reading: John 10:11-15

Text: Ephesians 5:25 KJV

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;"

In every organization the head is saddled with responsibilities. You cannot answer the head for nothing. Likewise in the oldest institution ordained by God: the family. The man as the head has responsibilities to carry out to be the head indeed.

Firstly, as the head, security of the family falls on the shoulders of the man. He has to protect the members of his family physically. For example as simple as it may look, some men will not care about the security of the house/gate. They leave this to the wife or children. 

Please, as the head of the family, ensure that the gates and the doors are locked before going to bed. The shepherd that you are lays down his life for the sheep according to John 10:11. You must inconvenience yourself to protect your family as the man.

Secondly, the man must provide for the needs of the family. This is because a man who is unable to provide for his family is worse than a infidel according to  1 Tim. 5:8.

Thirdly, as the head of the family, the man is the priest of the house. He must establish the family Altar (Gen. 26:25). Some men have left this responsibility to the wife and children. This is another area of securing your family. It is here you teach your children the word of God ( Deut. 32:46).

The bible enjoins parents according to Proverbs 22:6 KJV thus:

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

This is what you do at the family Altar which the man should set up as Abraham, Issac and Jacob did. Men, please do not leave this responsibility to your wives and children. You are the priest of your house.
