Reward for Service

Early Morning With God (EMWG)

Morning Devotion from the Desk of Emma Deekor.

Bible Reading: I Cor. 9:16-19.

Text: Revelation 22:12 KJV

"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."

It is important we all know that there is a consequence for every action we take in life. We shall be rewarded for what we do or left undone. Moreso, there is a reward for the services we render in the household of God.

We shall be blessed here on earth for our works and walk with God if we do well. Hear what the bible says in 1 Timothy 5:18 KJV:

"For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward."

But much more rewards will Jesus Himself  give to those who serve in the vineyard of God. The faithful ones shall receive the following kinds of crowns:

i). The crown of glory. This is meant for faithful Pastors who shepherd the sheep. Teachers who teach the word of God falls into this category and of course missionaries who leave their comfort zone in pursuit of souls for Christ ( Mark 16:15, I Pet. 5:4).

ii)  The crown of righteousness, meant for those expecting the second coming of Jesus Christ. In other words it is for all those who have sacrificed to live for Christ knowing He is coming soon (John 14:3). They overlook and forfeit somethings that may want to be an hindrance or distraction in this world (2 Tim. 4:8).

iii) The crown of life. This is for those who endured temptation and remain faithful till the end (John 16:33). Such people love God with all they have and forsake evil (James 1:2).

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:23-24 NIV

Serve God with heaven in mind knowing that your labour is not in vain.
