Character of the new man

Morning Devotion from the Desk of Emma Deekor: Early Morning With God (EMWG)

Bible Reading: Acts. 17:24-30.

Text: Acts 17:30 KJV

"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:"

There was a time called "times of ignorance". In those days you were moving blindly and God was guiding you. But the bible says in Hebrews 10:26-27 KJV

"For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 

[27] But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."

Is this a mere threat? I don't think so, rather it is a wake up call to us. As a new man, you are expected to behave like your master, Jesus Christ. This is because you are now a bold, original work of God's grace ( Eph. 2:10).

As a new man, you are a POWER HOUSE of love, radiating the kindness of Jesus Christ that melts away even the toughest hearts ( Col  3:14). You are now a warrior of righteousness,  wielding the sword of the spirit against temptation (Eph. 6:17).

As the new man, doubt and fear has no place in your life any longer because the spirit of boldness is transferred to you. According to  2 Timothy 1:7 KJV:

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Fear is replaced by the unshakeable faith that moves mountains (Matt. 17:20). You are now a beacon of integrity and your word is as dependable as the sunshine (Prov. 2:20-22).

Although this new man that you are is not perfect, you are a relentless learner, learning to grow in the spirit and radiating it's fruits (Gal. 5:22-23). You now easily forgive and offer grace just as you received (Eph. 4:32).

This is the man you are in Christ Jesus - a champion of help,  giving hope to the hopeless and a reflection of God's glory. Therefore, step into these roles, get the power, embrace the new you and let the world see you as the light of the world and salt of the earth (Matt. 5:13-14) and champion for God.

These are only possible if Jesus reigns in your life, the hope of glory. Surrender to him today to guide you please.
