Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day… So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. — 2 Corinthians 4:16, 18
You can’t stay here. The journey of grief is one that you must ultimately decide to complete. You cannot remain where you are right now. Time moves forward, and so must you.
“You can’t stay here because God’s Word is always going forward,” says Dr. Ray Pritchard.
In Philippians 3:14 Paul says that he moved forward toward “the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”. The Christian life is not static. It is a walk with God that moves you forward into a larger life with God.
Being a Christian does not mean you will live a life without trials and tribulations..look at Job. He lost everything and everyone that mattered most to him, but he kept the faith. I look up to Job a lot. He went through more heartache than most of us can fathom. His faith never wavered. God rewarded his faithfulness with 10 times everything he lost.
However, being a Christian does mean that we haven't a Savior that has overcome the world. Nothing is impossible with God! What a blessing knowing we have the King of Kings on our side!

When I fix my eyes on Jesus, the heaviness is lifted. I’m not saying that all my problems go away, but I find my hope in Jesus, in who He is, and in what He has promised to me. He says that if I come to Him, He will give me rest!

Here are some things you can do while grieving:
- Set aside about 15 minutes each day to be by yourself in a quiet place and commune with God.
- Seek out a therapist you trust.
- Write out all of your emotions on paper.
- Find a hobby that fills you with happiness.
- Take comfort in mourning with others and also, celebrate with others
- Read John 14, where God said he does not want our heart to be troubled.
The Lord’s plan for your life is pure and simple during this time of grief:
What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. — Micah 6:8.
Prayer for Today
Lord, may I simply walk with You. Take my hand and guide me through every moment of this day. Amen.
